Congratulations to Senior, Chase Crapps, for being selected for the prestigious All-State Reading Chorus!
Congratulations to 8 students for passing the requirements for GMEA All State Chorus: Marisa Bain, Tyler Blackwell, Mary Beth Cahalan, Chase Crapps, Ian Dehner, Libby Horne, Sean Linge, and Jenna Reynolds.
GMEA All-State Chorus audition #1 was held on Nov. 9 in Cordele at Crisp County High School. Students provided their own transportation to the audition. The $25 acceptance fee was due in December after the cut off scores were released. The second audition, for those who pass the first one, was held on Jan. 16, 2020 at Midland Middle School, beginning at 4:30 pm. The event will be February 27-29, 2020 at The Classic Center in Athens.
All-District Honor Chorus is by invitation of the director and is limited to 4 Sopranos, 4 Altos, 4 Tenors, and 4 Basses. Because of the small number of students allowed per school, upperclassmen are usually given priority in the selection process. The cost in past years has been $25. Rehearsals are held at NHS, and the event is Jan. 31 and February 1, 2020 at Hardaway High School.

Governors Honors Program
Students who are interested in attending Governors Honors (Freshmen, Sophomores, & Juniors) need to have a 3.0 GPA, excel at sight reading, and be prepared to learn an audition piece in a foreign language. In 2017-18, Northside had 3 students who auditioned and were accepted at the local level to proceed to the state auditions. Students provided video recordings, completed the required online forms, and were interviewed. One of the 3, Jill Reynolds, was selected as an alternate finalist. Students who are selected participate in a four-week summer program at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
Auditions for this year have been completed. Students who are interested for the 2020-2021 school year need to speak with Mrs. Turner at the end of the current school year or the beginning of the next school year.
Information for this year’s deadlines can be found at: https://gosa.georgia.gov/governors-honors-program
